If you’re a Duke Energy customer in Florida, you may qualify for up to $819 toward the electrical work needed to install a home EV charger.

The Duke Energy Charger Prep Credit helps cover eligible installation costs. When you use a participating contractor like Go Electric Chargers, your approved credit is applied directly to your quote—reducing what you pay upfront.

Here’s who qualifies, what the credit covers, and how to get started.

Who qualifies for the Duke EV charger credit?

To get started, you should:

• Be a Duke Energy Florida customer.
• Own the home where the charger will be installed.
• Have taken delivery of your electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid.
• Have vehicle registration showing the same address as your Duke Energy account.

Both fully electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids can qualify. The program is not limited to Tesla owners.

Duke Energy reviews your application and determines eligibility under its current program guidelines. Go Electric Chargers can help you through the process, but we do not guarantee approval.

What does the $819 credit cover?

The credit applies to eligible electrical work needed for home charging. This can include:

• Electrical wiring and materials.
• Installation labor.
• The circuit breaker needed for the charger.

For a basic installation with a short wiring run and enough electrical capacity, the approved credit may cover the eligible electrical installation cost.

Charger equipment, permit and administrative fees, and other noneligible expenses are separate. Your quote will show the installation scope, approved credit, and remaining balance.

Does the credit cover the entire installation?

Not always.

A charger close to the electrical panel usually requires less work than one across the garage. Longer wiring runs, difficult routes, or additional work needed to accommodate the charger can increase the cost.

The approved credit still applies toward eligible work, but it may not cover the full installation price. You pay the remaining balance shown in your quote.

Do I have to pay upfront and wait for reimbursement?

With the participating-contractor option, you do not need to pay the full eligible installation cost and then wait for reimbursement.

Once Duke approves your application, we apply the approved credit directly to your quote. You are responsible for the remaining project balance.

That makes the upfront cost easier to understand before you book your installation.

2. Complete Duke’s application.Duke reviews your account, vehicle registration, and other required information. Select Go Electric Chargers as your participating contractor through the program.
3. Review your installation quote.We review your electrical panel, charger location, and wiring route. Your quote shows the work needed, the approved credit, and any remaining costs.
4. Schedule your installation.Once approval and the installation details are confirmed, we help you move forward with home charging.
